He has extensive experience of over 30 years in design, construction and maintenance of Airfield pavement as Engineer, Lead Project Engineer and pavement specialist and is extremely knowledgeable about pavement evaluation, design, rehabilitation of different materials and under various weather/environmental conditions. He held the positions of Engineer, Senior Engineer since 1991 at Airport and Aviation Services (SL) Ltd and finally he retired as Head of Civil Engineering (Planning and Design) of Airport and Aviation Services (SL)Ltd holding over 16 years of that position. He is now an airfield and airport infrastructural specialist providing his services to several organizations as independent consultant.
He worked as a Lead Project Engineer for Runway Overlay Runway project of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). BIA is the prime and busiest airport in Sri Lanka and recorded over 200 aircraft operations per day handled over 10.8 million passengers in year 2018. With his leadership, Runway and taxiway over works and rehabilitation of aerodromes of BIA has successfully completed within 90 days with all of AGL and SMG related works to meet Code F runway parameters.
He worked as Chief Project Engineer to New Airport construction work of Sri Lanka in Year 2008 to 2014. New airport called Mattala International Airport in which he was involved in the design and construction of 3,500 m long Code letter F (A380 complied) runway, taxiways, aprons and other passenger infrastructures required for the flight operation. This was a design and build contract and value of the project is US$240M.
He graduated in January 1985 and holds BSc. Eng in Civil Engineering from University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka and is very familiar with ICAO, FAA, IATA and ACI regulations associated with aerodrome pavements.
